Il Mercante d'Olio

Il Mercante d’Olio is an extra virgin olive oil brand produced in the Vittorio Veneto area between the villages of Anzano and Montaner (Treviso, Veneto, Italy).

It is the story of a long and passionate journey in search of a precious elixir preserved by the soil: a journey back to the past and to a centuries-old tradition, inspired by the challenge of rediscovering a very ancient bond – dating back to the times of the ancient Romans – between the olive trees and the Veneto region, and to bring it back in a totally natural product of excellent quality.

Il Mercante d’Olio is also a journey into a land and its people to give new life to their skill. And it is a journey towards the future, because of new paths that most people avoid: it is the choice of sustainabilitỳ, of olive trees cared for with natural methods only, and placed in such a way as to give each tree the space needed to grow and bear fruit to its full potential.

Frantoio, Leccino, Pendolino: the combination of these trees and the soil that hosts them provides an oil with unexpected characteristics, now moreover awarded Organic certification.

“I was a businessman with a company of my own, today I am an olive grower”.

In 2018, Moreno Barel sold his PET Engineering company and purchased 3 hectares of land to convert to olive groves and another 10 hectares of woodland to revive.

“I am a man who works with passion and brains. The olive trees portion was love at first sight. I immediately loved its life power, its adaptability. I felt the power of history that linked the olive trees to this place and I wanted to pay homage to it again with an approach inspired by a very precise vision. I am a visionary, a dreamer, but mine is an actual focused and conscious project: I want to bring back the oil to its land, land to a community, and respect to nature”.
